The Vision

The D1 Vision Fund exists to establish Florida’s first NCAA Division I hockey program anchored at Florida Gulf Coast University. This initiative represents the final piece needed to complete Florida’s hockey development ecosystem — a pathway that allows players to grow from youth hockey to collegiate competition and ultimately to the professional ranks without leaving the state.Florida has already proven itself as a powerhouse in modern hockey. What the state still lacks is a flagship NCAA Division I program that connects its growing talent base to the highest level of collegiate competition.

Why This Matters

Every year, elite Florida players are forced to leave the state to pursue junior leagues, prep schools, and NCAA opportunities. This represents a loss of talent, economic activity, and visibility for Florida’s rapidly expanding hockey ecosystem. The D1 Vision Fund exists to solve this problem by building the financial and community foundation necessary to elevate FGCU Hockey to NCAA Division I status and anchor a statewide development pathway.
